Understanding M1 & Involuntary Behavioral Health Transportation

Professional transportation support for qualifying emergency behavioral-health situations.

When an individual is experiencing a behavioral-health crisis and an involuntary transport is authorized, transportation must be handled carefully, safely, and professionally. DHA provides specialized secure transportation services for qualifying situations when requested and authorized by the appropriate professionals or agencies.

What Is an M1 Hold in Colorado?

In Colorado, certain individuals experiencing an acute mental-health crisis may be subject to an emergency mental-health hold (commonly referred to as an M1 hold) when statutory criteria are satisfied. An M1-related transport involves strict legal and clinical requirements that must be met before transportation occurs.

Important Notice: DHA Secured Transportation LLC does not determine whether an individual meets the criteria for an emergency mental-health hold. Transportation requests must come through the authorized requesting process.
